Leave allowances

All staff benefit from 30 days (6 weeks) annual leave. The annual leave year runs from 1st January to 31st December. In addition to the 8 Public (statutory) days holiday the MRC also benefits from two and a half days Privilege holidays as follows:

Annual leave, Public and Privilege holidays combined amounts to a total of 40 1/2 days of leave.

Carry over into next year

It is normally possible to "carry over" up to ten days annual leave into the following year. It is also possible to anticipate up to seven days of the allowance for the following year.

Anticipation of annual leave

Members of staff are allowed to anticipate their full annual leave entitlement by the end of the leave year.

New staff with less than a full year

Annual leave is accrued on a month by month basis. Accordingly a new member of staff serving for only part of a given leave year will receive a proportion of the full annual leave alowance.

Part-time staff

A part-time member of staff will receive annual leave and other holidays on a pro-rata basis depending on the number of hours and which days are worked.
