Science for Health
NIMR has been hosting Schools' Days annually in February or March since 1990. This event enables Year 12 science students from local schools to get an insight into the importance and relevance of the research being conducted at the Institute. The programme of talks and demonstrations is intended to foster an interest in science.
Each year we accommodate approximately 350 visitors, and to date almost 40 schools have participated in the event.
Schools' Days includes lab demonstrations, scientific posters, a quiz, and an open discussion with a panel of scientists, providing the opportunity for students to meet and talk with scientists about topical science, career and ethical issues.
The 2012 Schools' Days will take place on 29 February and 1 March and the 2012 Schools' Day programme will include talks on the theme Big to small:
