Science for Health
2010 was the eighth year of our NIMR Human Biology Essay Competition. We received 50 entries from 14 schools.
Essays were judged anonymously in three rounds; the first two by members of NIMR with the two best of each group going into the next round; the final round involved four of our staff and two teachers from local schools. The criteria for choosing winners were based on a combination of quality of information and writing style.
The finalists wrote to a high standard but many other entries were very creditable, with sound structures, a logical narrative and a clear focus. It proved a splendid opportunity for participants to do their own thing with great diversity of styles and approaches.
