Tom Carter Biography

Tom Carter graduated with a degree in physiology and pharmacology (King's College London, 1986) and then did research for a PhD in pharmacology in the Vascular Biology Unit, of the MRC Clinical Research Center in Harrow.

In 1989 he moved to the Division of Neurophysiology at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). From 1995-1998 he held a British Heart Foundation Gerry Turner Fellowship, and in 1998 became a British Heart Foundation Basic University Lecturer.

In 1998 he joined the Pharmacology Department at UCL as a lecturer, and an honorary lecturer in Clinical Pharmacology. In 2003, he returned to NIMR, to take up a Career Scientist position within the Division of Molecular Neuroendocrinology. He retains an honorary senior lectureship in the Pharmacology Department at University College London.
