Wellcome Trust Investigator Awards provide funding for scientists who have an excellent track record and are in an established post. It has announced the latest recipients of its New and Senior Investigator Awards, given to outstanding researchers asking the most challenging research questions in biomedicine. Troy Margrie (pictured), in NIMR's Division of Neurophysiology, has been given a New Investigator award for his programme of work on the function and connectivity of cortical cells and circuits.
I was delighted (although not surprised) to hear that Troy has been awarded a Wellcome Trust New Investigator Award. It's great news for him and for NIMR, and really well-deserved.
