A meeting of the London Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) group took place at NIMR on Thursday April 26th.
The meeting focussed on RNA-seq, and speakers were drawn from NIMR, LRI and UCL. Over 100 people attended the meeting, including representatives from all seven London NGS core facilities. The meeting sponsors, Illumina and Covaris, demonstrated their latest NGS platforms. The meeting was divided into four parts. A short lunchtime meeting of the London facility managers was followed by four presentations, discussing new and unpublished work:
The presentations were followed by two breakout sessions, one focussed on wet lab issues and one on bioinformatics. After reporting back on the breakout sessions, participants discussed their work into the evening over refreshments.
The meeting was a great success. The presentations were interesting and stimulated plenty of discussion. Further meetings will be held in June 2012.
