Robert Edwards, known for his pioneering work in developing in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy, has died aged 87.

Brigitte Askonas died on 9 Jan 2013, aged 89. She was a member of staff at NIMR from 1952 and was Head of the Division of Immunology from 1976 until her retirement in 1988.

A new insectary has been built at NIMR to provide a platform for breeding and preparing mosquitoes for studying rodent malaria, used as a model for human infection.
