Guy Dodson died on 24 December 2012, aged 75. He was head of NIMR's Division of Protein Structure for 11 years, and established X-ray crystallography at NIMR.

Researchers at NIMR have shown that recent influenza A(H3N2) viruses have very different receptor binding properties compared with older viruses. The research is published in PNAS.

NIMR researchers have explored a novel means to identify antigenic targets that might contribute to a vaccine against TB. The research is published in Journal of Immunology and is a featured article.

Researchers at NIMR have adapted Plasmodium knowlesi to continuous culture in human erythrocytes, providing a new, genetically tractable model for malaria research. The work is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, USA.
