Generation of cell diversity in the mouse brain

Neuronal and glial cells Our lab is studying the developmental mechanisms controlling the generation of neuronal and glial cells in the mammalian brain. We are combining cellular, molecular and genomic approaches such as in vitro analysis of transgenic and knockout mice, in vitro cell culture assays, biochemical and microarray analysis of protein-DNA interactions and bioinformatics, in order to elucidate the genetic programmes governing neurogenesis and gliogenesis in the embryonic and adult brain, and to understand how the genes participating to these developmental programmes are regulated.
